Missing the Point

Iran is going forward on nuclear technology. Ahmadinejad is quite clear on that:

"The Iranian nation has entered the phase of industrial scale of nuclear fuel (production) and the train of the Iranian nation's progress is irreversible," Ahmadinejad told a rally in South Khorasan province broadcast live on state television.

"Today, we've reached 3,000 centrifuges," he said.

Experts expressed doubts about the number and whether they are working in a manner to produce nuclear weapon-grade material.

This misses the point. I find it aggravating that the debate often comes down to counting the number of angels on the head of a pin.

The point is, Iran will not stop their efforts. Iran will continue on with a program purportedly for economic reasons no matter the economic harm that comes to them from Western sanctions.

Clearly, Iran wants nuclear weapons.

Less clear is our resolve to keep the madman Ahmadinejad from getting nuclear weapons.
