Bluffing or Foreshadowing?

Does Russia still think they can make a play for eastern Ukraine? Or are they rattling sabers to make "just" taking Crimea seem like a win for the West?

Russia is claiming that "lawlessness" threatens ethnic Russians in eastern Ukraine:

Russia's Foreign Ministry said on Monday it was outraged by lawlessness in eastern Ukraine, and accused the far-right paramilitary movement Right Sector of "conniving" with the new government in Kiev.

Ukraine denied the allegation, and dismissed as untrue Moscow's accusations of misdeeds in its eastern regions.

Is Russia preparing the justification of moving in to eastern Ukraine, too? Or is it too late to pose as a rescue force and would a blatant invasion be too much for Russia's shaky military to take on in addition to the Crimea operation?

Could Russia just be making the threats in order to make the West think that Russian failure to move in to that region is a victory for the West that makes up for allowing Russia to strip Crimea away from Ukraine?
