The Pirouette to Asia

Yeah, this just screams we're serious about pivoting to Asia as our primary area of concern:

Looks like there will be a Camelot East — make that Far East: Caroline Kennedy is heading to Tokyo to be the U.S. ambassador. Kennedy, whose support for President Obama during his 2008 campaign was seen as crucial, had been widely talked about as a candidate for the plum diplomatic post, but now things have apparently been firmed up.

The article says the Japanese are thrilled. Seriously? They think this is a good thing?

Celebrity ambassadors appointed based on their campaign contributions should be restricted to posts of lesser strategic worry--think Luxembourg (no offense).

What the Hell. Let's just make Dennis Rodman the ambassador to South Korea. What difference, at this point, does it make?
