Don't bring back the dead Iran nuclear deal.
Kissinger
recognizes that it would be a mistake to restore the Iran nuclear deal (tip to Instapundit):
Biden has said he means to return to it as long as Iran agrees to comply with the restrictions on its actions. But Kissinger notes that the deal’s time limits on key restrictions and “so many escape clauses” render it effectively useless in stopping Iran’s nuclear development.
Plus, the accord leaves Iran’s enrichment capabilities intact while banning US economic sanctions — when the ones Trump imposed are hitting the regime hard.
I agree. Even my cursory look at the deal showed that it did that. Worse, it actually helped Iran get nuclear weapons by helping them with basic nuclear technology.
Say, what does Iran think of what it has been doing under the cover of the deal?
Iran urged the United Nations' nuclear watchdog to avoid publishing “unnecessary” details on Tehran’s nuclear program, state TV reported Sunday, a day after Germany, France and Britain said Tehran has “no credible civilian use” for its development of uranium metal.
Huh. But it is more damning than the actual information that Iran doesn't want information revealed. Why has the IAEA been in the business of keeping information secret?
Why? Because you can ignore all the actual language of the deal and related documents by understanding the basic deal: Iran will pretend not to want nuclear weapons; and America will pretend to believe them.
And my God, the extent that the Obama administration was willing to pretend was horrifying.
And it gets worse outside of the deal. If Biden re-starts the Iran nuclear deal, Saudi Arabia will seek nuclear weapons. Turkey will seek nuclear weapons. Even Egypt may seek nuclear weapons.
And that's the worst if Israel doesn't believe it has to nuke Iran's nuclear missile infrastructure.
The deal is dead. Don't let it rise up and kill.
Have a super sparkly day.
