Anyone outside the Obama-Ben Rhodes-media echo chamber already understood this long ago:
Five years ago, as the U.S. was hammering out the final details of the Iran nuclear deal, negotiators relented on a key demand: Iran would not have to account for the possible military dimensions of its past nuclear activities. This bargain was enshrined in a December 2015 report from the International Atomic Energy Agency, or IAEA, which closed the longstanding investigation into Iran’s nuclear program.
Now it appears that investigation is reopened. Bloomberg News is reporting that the agency has rebuked Iran for stonewalling inspectors with new questions about Iran’s past nuclear-weapon work. The agency says that Iran now possesses 1,021 kilograms of low-enriched uranium, up from 372 kilograms last fall.
The story says this is not unexpected. No sh*t.
Tell that to Obama and his pro-mullah band.
Nearly 5 years onto a (for the most part) 10-year deal, the issue is being reopened. That's not the most helpful endorsement of the IAEA's so-called commitment to keeping Iran non-nuclear or of the self-evidently awful nuclear deal.
And don't blame anyone for Iran's increase in enriched uranium because the deal never stopped Iran from being able to do that--obviously. We know that because Iran managed their levels even before the deal.
So Iran always had it within their power to break out when it is convenient to have more. The deal simply allowed Iran a speedier break out period by allowing Iran to improve their enrichment capacity and to improve their missiles that are necessary to make nuclear warheads useful to Iran.
And I doubt if the IAEA could have discovered the extent of the increase if Iran didn't want to advertise the fact to put pressure on Iran's Western defenders to help Iran.
Iran's mullahs wants nukes. America is finally trying to stop them from getting nukes. Why would any Americans agree with the mullahs on this issue?
