Look East for the Answer

Why would Putin want to amend the Russian "constitution" to prohibit the transfer of Russian territory to a foreign country? I wonder what China thinks about that?

Huh:

President Vladimir Putin wants to amend the constitution to make it illegal for Russia to give away any part of its territory to a foreign power, a proposal likely to irritate Japan and Ukraine that have territorial disputes with Moscow.

If this will irritate Japan and Ukraine, what will China think about it given all the Chinese territory in the Far East that Russia still occupies?

Rage comes to mind. Or maybe the Chinese assume they can simply tell Russia to violate their constitution or amend it quickly when China demands territorial concessions from Russia.

Hard to say.

But perhaps Russia is preparing to end their policy of appeasing China.

If the Russians end their bizarre hostility toward the non-threat of NATO to face the real threat of China, we can exact a price for our assistance against a common foe.
