Hmm:
The first reaction to the Brussels massacres among postmodern European intellectuals was predictable: What did we, Europeans, do to them, our Muslims? How could followers of a religion that is proudly called “the religion of peace” commit these kinds of atrocities?
One, isn't that reaction from Belgian intellectuals (if that description is correct, but we've seen it here, too) kind of--wrong? Doesn't it damn all Moslems--the alleged crime of those who think jihadis (who by a massive coincidence happen to be Moslem)--should be killed to protect the West and those Moslems in the Islamic world who tend to be prime targets for the jihadis?
I find it so odd, when you consider that Belgium played no role in the Iraq War which our Left insisted caused Moslems to go jihadi on us. Yet here we are, with Belgians as targets of jihadis.
I don't spend valuable time worrying about what angers jihadis. What doesn't anger them, eh?
And isn't this disturbing (from the first link)?
While about one in five natives can be considered as Islamophobic, the level of phobia against the West among Muslims — for which oddly enough there is no word; one might call it ‘Occidentophobia’ — is much higher still, with 54 percent believing that the West is out to destroy Islam.” Recorded rates of Christian hate toward Muslims hover around 10 percent.
There is a better case to be made that jihadis are willing to kill Europeans because so many of their co-religionists are bigoted against the West than that jihadis react to Western bigotry.
Perhaps Europe should focus on immigration of Moslems who don't think the West is out to get them and who may be better prepared to assimilate with and prosper in a secular Europe; rather than just allowing in a mass of Islamic people fleeing war who have no reason to like Europe as other than a source of refuge from war plus and food, cash, and shelter.
Break down into small groups and discuss.
