I was reading an article in Proceedings, and as I read the article about how the Navy is beginning a Golden Age of naval power under the Obama adminsitration pivot, I was struck by how much of a suck-up the author appeared to be in stroking the wisdom of the Obama administration.
At one point I skipped to the end to see he is the Under Secretary of the Navy in the Obama administration. Now it is clear. Funny enough the online version doesn't mention that fact that appears in the print version.
In the end, the article is a patently obvious effort to gin up support for the president from a Navy audience by arguing that whatever else is happening to our military, the Navy-Marine Corps team will prosper--for the next century no less! If the sea power community is foolish enough to believe that only the Army and Air Force will suffer from the administration's aversion to the military, they are fools.
You can pee all over the military, but you shouldn't expect us to believe we are experiencing a refreshing spring shower.
