Not Helpful

I know that Iraq without a conventional military or Saddam Hussein in charge is not going to be invading anybody anytime soon. But did the Kuwaitis really have to do this?

Iraq's Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said on Friday that Kuwait never officially informed Baghdad about a controversial port project, which his country says must be stopped.

The project is on Bubiyan Island, which will kind of hinder access to Iraq's access to the sea.

You'd think the Kuwaitis would have a little more sense than to do this unilaterally.

And you'd think our diplomats might have noticed the project, understood the significance, and maybe talked Kuwait out of it in this form. I mean, smart diplomacy could have done that.
