Administration officials held a classified briefing for lawmakers Wednesday, and stressed that any congressional action backing away from Libya would undermine U.S. standing within NATO, said Rep. Gary Ackerman, D-N.Y., a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
Ackerman suggested politics played a role in some GOP opposition to Obama's actions against Libya.
"It's really a policy of being against him (Obama)," Ackerman said. He said Republicans "are making a choice between Moammar Gadhafi and Barack Obama."
It seems like only yesterwar that dissent was the highest form of patriotism rather than a choice between our president and the leader of those we were fighting.
I wonder what changed?
Mind you, I want to win this war and support the President even if I am not a fan of how we are waging the war. I also think the war powers act is unconstitutional and pointless.
I just want to point out how a defender of President Obama's decision to wage war on Libya is effectively saying that opposition to the war is pretty much siding with that enemy.
