"To my Republican friends, take back your party so that it doesn't matter so much who wins the election because we have shared values." In other words, it's fine if Republicans win elections so long as they agree with us. But she couldn't stop there. She added this: "The fact is, elections shouldn't matter as much as they do."
One, I thought elections had consequences. That's what President Obama said, anyway. But more important, I thought that old Republicans were evil back then. That's what they said, anyway. But now she believes they were just RINOs who shared the values and goals of Democrats. Huh.
But Pelosi shouldn't be condemned. After all, deep down, she's a "reformer." And a reformer is different. A reformer deserves our patience while they get ready to reform, no matter what the price is.
Really, what's a few broken eggs among friends when the omelet will taste just grand?
Seriously, that is a frightening mindset. We shouldn't be so quick to ridicule the Arab Spring because Arabs supposedly aren't capable of appreciating democracy and embracing it. How deep are democracy's roots here?
And when you hear her and her ilk saying that "science" should guide policy outside of politics, be afraid. Economics, political science, and climatology may not be hard sciences, but too many want policies in those areas to be outside of the political realm--where you and I have a say.
