I did warn that the Assad regime could experience blowback one day:
If jihadis who flock to Syria and then cross into Iraq increasingly see Iraq as a one-way ticket to defeat and pointless martyrdom, those jihadis may decide to stick around for an easier target--Boy Assad.Has Assad managed to keep jihadis out of Syria since their effort to destabilize Iraq failed during our surge?
Or will they add a new dimension to the struggle between the people of Syria and the regime?
Heck, I suppose the regime could make lemonade from these jihadi lemons and use their existence as a pretext to kill their way out of the unrest.
