A Small Victory

Amidst the heartbreak of reading that casualty estimates in Japan have already topped 10,000, one man's survival and rescue is a welcome break from despair and a bit of hope:

Hiromitsu Shinkawa was pushed out to sea while he clung to the roof of his home after a tsunami engulfed Japan's northeastern coast. For two days, he tried to get the attention of helicopters and ships that passed by — to no avail.

He was rescued Sunday by the Japanese miltiary while ten miles out to sea. Good to have you back, Mr. Shinkawa.
