Not Secured Yet

While the loyalists seem to have driven the rebels out of Zawiyah, the city still absorbs regular Libyan army units that would be very useful at Misrata or the main front on the coast in the center of the country:

An Associated Press reporter, who was taken by the government with other journalists into the city on Friday, said the city was clearly in government control, with Libyan soldiers manning tanks and trucks mounted with anti-aircraft guns.

I have no idea if any of the regulars who took the city have been redeployed east, but some are clearly still there holding the place.

The Libyan rebels would do their cause some good if they can manage hit-and-run raids to keep the regular army units occupied in Zawiyah, even if the rebels can't retake the city.

Also, the rebels still hold positions around the Ras Lanouf oil facilities even though the loyalists took the residential areas of the town.
