Then Israel went and invaded the Gaza Strip. The Hamas cowboy attitude is disappearing fast:
The Palestinians are asking the U.N. Security Council to quickly adopt a resolution calling for an immediate end to Israeli attacks in Gaza and a permanent cease-fire including border monitors and an international force to protect civilians.
Yeah, I'd want all this, too, If I was a murderous thug with a barely functioning brain stem capable of doing the math. Get the Israelis to stop shooting; get a "permanent" ceasefire that never counts anything more than 20 rockets per day as breaking the ceasefire; get border monitors that agree to those terms and basically just report on Israeli retaliation as a violation; and get a nice pliant international force in place that will be as effective as UNIFAIL in southern Lebanon in controlling Hezbollah.
Yeah, why wouldn't Hamas want that outomce considering the mess they find they've unleashed?
And why would Israel agree to it?
We shall see if the Israelis still see "victory" as the goal of using military power.
