Well, technically the interim deal still has a few "snags" to resolve before going into effect. But once that snag is resolved, whoa! What a 6-month period of Iranian good nuclear behavior it will be!
What's the snag? Oh:
Negotiations between Iran and six world powers on implementing a landmark November deal to freeze parts of Tehran's nuclear program in exchange for easing some sanctions have run into problems over advanced centrifuge research, diplomats said.
The dispute over centrifuges highlighted the huge challenges facing Iran and the six powers in negotiating the precise terms of the November 24 interim agreement. If they succeed, they plan to start talks on a long-term deal to resolve a more than decade-long dispute over Tehran's nuclear ambitions.
Among the issues to be resolved in political discussions due to begin in Geneva later this week is that of research and development of a new model of advanced nuclear centrifuge that Iran says it has installed, diplomats said on condition of anonymity.
It's a little matter of the ability of Iran to go nuclear more quickly. We say we want that (it seems like only yesterday that Iran had to suspend all enrichment activities!) and Iran says that they won't agree to that.
It's odd. Iran has consistently said that the only point of talking is to get us to agree that Iran has the right to nuclear technology. These talks don't really seem to be much of a challenge to Iran since we continue to fool ourselves about Iran's intent.
This nuance thing is so tough. Explain to me again why Iran is refusing to begin their 6-month freeze of nuclear activities in order to preserve their ability to conduct nuclear activities more efficiently?
John Kerry is so getting a Nobel Peace Prize for this.
