I'm Glad That's Settled

To be clear, the Obama administration's position is that China has no justification to sack our Peking embassy and kill our ambassador?

Huh. The White House denied a petition request to take Jimmy Kimmel off the air for a segment on dealing with America's debt to China, that featured answers by children:

One boy said "kill everyone in China" when Kimmel asked how the U.S. should repay China. ...

The White House also noted that the Constitution protects free speech, even when it's offensive.
