Still Inside the Tent

While I have worries about trends in Turkey, I also don't want to panic and push along those bad trends by punishing Turkey too hastily. Turkey is still a NATO ally, after all:

An early warning radar will be stationed in Turkey's southeast as part of NATO's missile defense system, the foreign ministry announced Wednesday.

This is very useful. And angers the mullahs of Iran, which is a good side effect.

We have to carefully monitor Turkey in case they do go too far and step outside the bounds of acceptable behavior. But better an imperfect ally inside the tent peeing out than a foe outside, peeing into the tent.
