You Think I'm Kidding?

I've written many times over the years that there is very little that won't set off the more excitable members of Islam into a religious killing spree. The war on terror has never been about what we do or don't do "provoking" them into killing us. It has always been about the insanity (from our point of view) of their religious demands.

Remember, this makes perfect sense to the jihadis:

Islamic terrorist groups have proved to be particularly imaginative at coming up with reasons to kill you. Even if you are Moslem, the Islamic radicals have a growing list of excuses to do you harm. For example, the Somali al Shabaab (an al Qaeda affiliate) recently banned the making and sale of samosa. This is a snack that consists of a triangle shaped pastry filled with minced vegetables, spices and, often, meat. The samosa is fried or baked. Samosa has been around for over a thousand years, and was apparently invented by Moslems somewhere in Central Asia. But al Shabaab decided that the triangular shape somehow represented a Christian symbol, and banned it.

People have been murdered as punishment. Western scolds may nag us that junk foods are bad for our health, but at least they don't make it an immediate consequence.

And remember this when you hear somebody earnestly going on about "why they hate us" and arguing that the "why" is something we've done or have failed to do.
