Just Leave the Euros on the Dresser

A real government would have real reporters following them around to write real stories about their real work. So it says a lot that the European Union has decided that hiring the journalistic equivalent of an escort to accompany one of their leading lights out to dinner is easier than actually being worthy of reporting on:

Journalists' expenses will be paid if they accompany the European Commission president on foreign trips, in a new public relations drive which will cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of euros.

Of course, a real escort is expected to put out at the end of the evening. Will the journalists suck up to the European Commission president and provide a happy ending for the chap?

I suggest the journalists paid for their services wear kitten heels, push-up bras, and brush up on their cheese subsidy regulations to make sure they are proper company for a proper EU lord.

What a joke. The really funny thing is that the Europeans are doing this to themselves.

UPDATE: More on the Europarliament of whores. The EU Commission president denies his planned 3-hour speech (I got that from another source) is designed to bolster his image. At that length, I think we have to take him on his word. But when the EU has to buy support from European reporters, who are naturally pro-sucking up to the EU, can we all agree that the EU is a monster imposed on the people of Europe?
