Honor All Those Who Serve

We're in new territory when it comes to women in the military fighting to defend us. Even though women are barred from narrowly defined combat jobs, any job in the military can expose you to combat or attack. Attitudes at home aren't catching up with this reality yet:

Nobody wants to buy them a beer.

Even near military bases, female veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan aren't often offered a drink on the house as a welcome home.

More than 230,000 American women have fought in those recent wars and at least 120 have died doing so, yet the public still doesn't completely understand their contributions on the modern battlefield.

Our women veterans are deserving of our highest honor. Salute them, too.

Hell, I'm ashamed that my time in uniform was so uneventful when you consider what many of our women have done.
