Eagle Claws, Beak, and a Whole Lot More

Hizbollah is being hammered and Arab states aren't rallying to their cause as they probably assumed. So what might they do to reverse their losses as Israel prepares to send in ground troops?

Austin Bay notes that a lot of American citizens are in Lebanon and potentially at risk if Ahmadinejad pines for his youthful glory days and tries for Embassy Seizure II or something like that:

The US prepares to evacuate American nationals. If Hezbollah gets desperate, Americans in Lebanon could become real human hostages. Don’t dismiss the terrible thought out of hand. Iranian revolutionaries took the US Embassy in Tehran hostage. As StrategyPage noted, this is an Iran-Israel war, with Hezbollah and Hamas as Iran’s proxies. Of course taking American hostages opens the door for US reprisals. George W. Bush won’t dither like Jimmy Carter.

There will be no Desert Two fiasco if Iran or their proxies Hizbollah take this step. All we need is an excuse and we will go after the mullah regime. I just don't believe President Bush intends to leave this task to the next president.
