Earthquake in Japan

I hate days like this. Northeast Japan was hit by a huge earthquake:

The magnitude 8.9 quake and 23-foot (7-meter) tsunami were followed by more than 50 aftershocks for hours, many of them of more than magnitude 6.0.

Casualty reports usually mount all day, getting worse than one could imagine.

Although Japan is prepared for disasters like this, I assume we will quickly provide whatever help they ask for.

UPDATE: We do have a lot of military personnel in Japan already, although not in the earthquake region, I believe.

UPDATE: It is the largest earthquake in Japanese history.

UPDATE: We've accounted for all our military personnel in Japan.
