China threatens retaliation for recently announced American arms sales to Taiwan.
I think the Chinese are unclear on the concept of "internal" affairs:
China pledged that it would initiate a “proper and necessary response” to the U.S. arms sale to Taiwan announced on Election Day.
Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said on Wednesday that the planned $600 million drone sale to the autonomous island “brutally interferes in China’s internal affairs and seriously undermines China’s sovereignty and security interests,” The Associated Press reported.
If this was an "internal" affair, China would tell its customs official to seize the weapons upon arrival on Taiwan.
I suspect China's "proper and necessary response" could be the seizure of Taiwan's Pratas Islands:
China has been exercising its navy recently and Xi Jinping told his troops to be ready for war. Is "war" going to be the seizure of Taiwan's Pratas Islands in the South China Sea?
Something is coming. The Chinese keep saying that and may feel they are stronger now given the Xi Jinping Flu effect on America.
