The Model Said It Would Work

The theory of being loved abroad was simple for the Obama administration: it's our fault if we have problems abroad. That model isn't working.

To restore our reputation abroad, beginning in 2009 we'd stop leading allies who resented being asked to do things and we'd reach out to foes to make them our friends.

And shock of shocks, friends worry they are on their own and see us cutting deals without their input with mutual foes (unilateral, much?) who seem to pocket our concessions and move on without responding to our Friend request.

We are so screwed. Now this is real global weirding.
