This Should Be Entertaining

So Spanish law applies to people other than Bush and Cheney?

I think the law is fairly stupid. But given China's rather short temper on issues such as this, it should be entertaining to see how China reacts to having a former leader (and some compatriots) targeted for arrest and trial:

A Spanish court on Tuesday issued an international arrest warrant for China’s ex-president Jiang Zemin in a case brought by activists alleging that Chinese forces committed genocide in Tibet. ...

Spain’s National Court issued the arrest warrant under the doctrine of universal jurisdiction, which allows its courts to try certain cases of human rights abuses committed in other countries.

Yeah, it was all fun and games when they fantasized about frog marching George W. Bush into a Spanish court for the crime of "fighting while American" but this is a whole different thing.

Let's hope that Spain doesn't need any of China's pile of cash to overcome their financial difficulties.

UPDATE: First comes the interview: You did what?!

China's foreign ministry summoned Spain's ambassador on Thursday after a Spanish court ruled that several of its former leaders should be arrested over allegations they had committed genocide in Tibet, the Spanish foreign ministry confirmed on Friday.

Let's see if stuff starts happening.
