Dramatic advances in public attitudes are sweeping Iraq, with declining violence, rising economic well-being and improved services lifting optimism, fueling confidence in public institutions and bolstering support for democracy.
Our self-proclaimd, nuanced Left, in their condemnation of liberating Iraqis from Saddam's tender mercies, always liked to assert that you can't impose democracy with force of arms.
But I guess force of arms can defend the opportunity for people to support democracy.
Perhaps that is thinking too nuanced for them.
