The Proof of the Putin is in the Meeting

The French and Russians are meeting to discuss Iran's nuclear program. Nothing will come of it.

Putin doesn't think that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons and the only real problem they have is a lack of "transparency." Do that and their wholly peaceful intentions would be evident, apparently:

President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday there is no proof Iran is seeking to build nuclear weapons, but emphasized that Tehran must be encouraged to make its nuclear program fully transparent.

We are sharing our partners' concern about making all Iranian programs transparent," Putin said at a news conference after talks with visiting French President Nicolas Sarkozy. "We agreed yesterday, and the president confirmed it, that Iran is making certain steps toward the international community to achieve that."

Au contraire, Herr Putin, the Iranian program is completely transparent. They want to nuke their enemies. Or at least have nukes to maintain their freedom of action to use terrorism without fear of retaliation.

And Putin's motives are transparent, too. He wants to make money by selling Iran weapons and nuclear technology while at the same time checking American influence by providing Iran with the means of getting nuclear weapons--not mere nuclear-generated electricity.

France isn't likely to get much Russian cooperation out of this meeting. Putin is a flaming idiot and the Russian people are foolish to allow this thug to lead them away from the West and into solidarity with the Despicable Rest (see the October 5 entry).
