As much as I've been annoyed at the partisan response of some to the rescue efforts following Hurricane Katrina, with so many in need I understand the frustration that help takes time. So it is a relief to see that after the first elements arrived on the scene on Thursday that on Friday and today the military-led response is finally reaching large numbers of people.
The ability of our military to conduct rescue operations with little notice inside our country to save people even as it conducts military operations around the globe is little short of amazing.
So much remains to be done. We must do it.
