Coalition of the Re-Elected

Prime Minister Koizumi has won his election. Japan thus adds to the roster of American allies whose leaders have been re-elected:

Koizumi, a staunch ally of President Bush, is expected to stand by Tokyo's dispatch in support of the U.S.-led coalition in Iraq and is also a strong supporter of the continued presence of 50,000 U.S. military personnel in Japan. The opposition Democrats had pledged to withdraw troops from Iraq.

It was a landslide, the article notes.

But don't expect any major stories about this--that is only justified when the pro-Bush dog catcher of lower East Whocaresistan loses.

Funny how that works.
