Is America allowed to win? Or are only our enemies allowed that achievement?
The high standards some set for accepting victory for America astounds me.
In Afghanistan we have an ally that kills jihadis every day. That's not a victory?
Why do we have to achieve Vermont-levels of peaceful politics to earn recognition of a victory? Russia gets stuck in countries. But rather than being in dread "quagmires" Russia has brilliantly conceived "frozen conflicts."
Our record is pretty good, really.
Also, the author's idea that Trump "sabotaged" America-NATO relations is nonsense.
UPDATE: Oh, here's a short summary of my argument at a higher level that should have been in the original post.
