Bizarro World Europe

Huh? What is Macron smoking these days?

French President Emmanuel Macron declared Russia to no longer be NATO's enemy and called for closer ties with the Kremlin days before a NATO meeting.

Other NATO allies are looking at France funny:

It wasn’t an attack on one ally that triggered NATO’s collective defense, but an attack by one: Emmanuel Macron.

As NATO leaders gather Tuesday in London to celebrate the alliance’s 70th anniversary, starting with a royal reception at Buckingham Palace, they appear united — 28 to 1 — against the French president. Or 29 to 1, counting North Macedonia, which is attending as a guest but is already approved to join NATO. Add in Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, and it’s 30 to 1 around the leaders’ table.

Suddenly, as quickly as one can say “brain death,” Donald Trump is not NATO’s biggest headache, nor the leader most at risk of being a pariah.

Yeah, the old so-called pariah will ultimately strengthen NATO.

Seriously, the French are trying to be this annoying, right?

Remember, the pro-European Union apparatchiki want America out of Europe because post-World War II American influence gets in the way of their imperial ambitions to redefine "Europe" from a continent to an empire. And wrecking NATO with the European Union army project is their tool to eject America. When Euro apparatchiki speak of their EU defense capabilities, damaging NATO is a feature and not a bug.

The European Union "army" will duplicate NATO capabilities so that when NATO and America are wrecked and ejected there will be a military capability for the EU proto-empire in place.

Sure, the EU military won't be anywhere close to the effectiveness of the American-led NATO (But a Europe without America is far more likely to be from being pushed out by the EU than by America pulling out. Good grief, Europe should react to that threat not by preparing for the day when America will pull out but by reining in the EU that is trying to push America out!), but if there is no military threat to Europe as Macron claims, who cares? Right?

And if there is and you have to break a few NATO Baltic state eggs, crushed by Moscow to restore them to the Russian empire, to make that lovely Brussels Omelet, who cares?

Ultimately, the EU thinks it only really needs an army with the capabilities of the typical Third World state that has a military that is nothing more than a glorified riot police force capable of defeating its own people (bloody peasants, get in line!), and little more.

If the real purpose of NATO is to keep Russia out of Europe, keep America in Europe, and keep Germany down, as the saying went; the European Union's purpose is to keep America out of Europe, keep Russia in Europe, and keep Germany down. It's like Bizarro World Europe.

So yeah, I don't want to hear another GD word about how Trump is damaging NATO.

UPDATE: Duh (that's for you Macron):

“Russia has shown with its actions that it is a serious security threat,” Estonian defense minister Jüri Luik said during a panel discussion on Baltic and Black sea security during the NATO engages event in London on December 3. “For Lithuania, [Russia] is the only external existential threat we have,” added Lithuanian defense minister Raimundas Karoblis. While Macron has a legitimate concern in preventing terrorism in Europe, Luik argued that unlike terrorism, “Russia is the existential threat” because “it is a nation state.” NATO, he added, is “the only organization that can viably” deter Russian aggression against its neighbors.

There was terrorism within NATO during the Cold War. That did not make the Soviet threat less than the the main threat to NATO.

UPDATE: No, you left-wing propagandist, America under Trump isn't a danger to NATO.

I swear, people like him are the ones who want to kill NATO and they are counting on European prejudice against Trump (and America in general, this urge was there even under Obama, contrary to the assertion by the author that Trump created this EU objective) to bring about the dissolution of NATO so they can finally get their glorious imperial EU army.

UPDATE: Don't believe that the Euro urge to get a EU military independent of NATO is prompted by Trump:

That dream is as old as the European project. There were plans for a European army in 1952, drawn up by Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and West Germany.

I'll say it again about the EU--Die! Die! Die! With festering boils, die!
