President Xi Jinping of China is expected to place trusted allies in the Communist Party's key decision-making Politburo during a leadership reshuffle at the 19th party Congress this autumn, according to multiple Chinese sources and foreign diplomats.
A key measure of Xi's power will be how many of his allies are installed on the 25-member committee.
Thank God they're reasonably enlightened, eh!
Otherwise the strengthened dictatorship might be worrying.
UPDATE: Part of this is putting his people in charge of the military. So let me add what I wrote in the last weekend data dump.
I have to wonder if these moves make it easier for Xi to decide to control an increasingly uncooperative and potentially hostile North Korea with military force if necessary. (And I see someone else wonders about the same thing.)
