Suicide is Pointless

The jihadi bombers aren't as plentiful after 8 years of purportedly enraging the Moslem world by fighting jihadis and "just creating more jihadis," as the liberal argument against fighting the jihadis portrayed our battles in Iraq and Afghanistan:

Suicide bombing has become less popular in the Moslem world, for a variety of reasons. First, there is the fact that most of the victims tend to be Moslems, usually innocent civilians (including many women and children.) Then there is the futility of it all. The many attacks do not appear to have accomplished anything. Lastly, there are the many families that do not want to see a son going off to get himself killed like this.

"The futility of it all." Those are indeed beautiful words to read. It's one thing for jihadi recruits to imagine themselves being celebrated by having their names etched in stone at the victory column erected after the jihad sweeps to victory. It's another to be a DNA sample in the great infidel jihadi database, after the United States and our allies clean up the battlefields.

Whatever choices we make in the weeks or years ahead, we must not do anything that erases the futility felt by potential jihad recruits.
