Holding in Crimea?

The Ukrainians say that there are 22,000 Russian troops there, including 10,500 troops that brought in from outside to reinforce the Sevastopol garrison.

If so, this means that about half the Russian troops sent in for the subliminal invasion are now gone.

If so, Crimea isn't much of a platform to threaten invasion of Ukraine from the south (unless reinforced). Note that there are probably still 10,000 militia there.

And why would the Russians do that if their military is so awesome? For some reason, the Russians needed more than 10,000 troops originally sent to Crimea elsewhere.

But this train of conclusions rests on the initial statement being true.
