A Matter of Leadership?

So are the recent failures in leadership in senior military ranks a matter of a deeper failure of our military leaders?

Every service has been hit by flag-officer scandals in recent years. One or two might be explained away, but there’s clearly a crisis of ethics atop our military.

Instead of going easier on the generals, they should face harsher penalties than the captains. Generals know better. But their sense of entitlement has murdered their sense of duty, honor, country.

Or are the mostly zipper control problems a matter of tarnishing the reputation of the military to make defense cuts more palatable?

Or is it just unfortunate timing for a cluster of events that normally would be spread out and simply something that happens in any large group of people? That is, are these generals guilty as individuals who should be punished as guilty individuals?
