A Four Star Moment

Remember the story of White House adviser Valerie Jarrett mistaking an American general for a waiter?

CNN (tip to Instapundit) confirms:

Four-star Army Gen. Peter Chiarelli -- the No. 2 general in the U.S. Army -- says he is absolutely not offended that Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett mistook him for a waiter at a fancy Washington dinner this week and asked him for a glass of wine.

She probably assumed the four stars he wore just showed the restaurant's pride in their travel guide rating.

The story highlights that the mistake could happen to anyone and that sometimes embarassing stuff just happens. Indeed. And Ms. Jarrett isn't an idiot for making that mistake. Stuff happens.

But if it had happened to some other people (coughpalincough), it would have been mocked mercilessly by the main stream media as proof of idiocy.
