Blind Trust

As I've said, I don't buy the latest conventional wisdom that says all the world's intelligence services were wrong about Saddam having weapons of mass destruction on the eve of our invasion and liberation.

This Israeli general (via PowerLine) is just another who believes that the weapons went somewhere--in this case to Syria--prior to H-Hour in March 2003:

The Israeli officer, Lieutenant General Moshe Yaalon, asserted that Saddam spirited his chemical weapons out of the country on the eve of the war. "He transferred the chemical agents from Iraq to Syria," General Yaalon told The New York Sun over dinner in New York on Tuesday night. "No one went to Syria to find it."

Saddam probably paid dearly to the cash-strapped Assad regime for a blind trust to place his WMD stocks for the duration of the crisis.

Perhaps to the surprise of both parties, Syria is still sitting on the MOAB-bait nearly three years later.

As I say, I'll wait for Conventional Wisdom 5.0 to come out.
