In an interview broadcast Friday on CBS's "The Early Show," Obama said "all the evidence" indicates that Tehran is trying to get a nuclear weapons capacity. With such a capability, Obama said that Iran could "destabilize" life in the Mideast and trigger an arms race in the region.
This isn't a recent change of heart, of course. Early on, the Obama administration concluded that the 2007 NIE summary that was made public did not, in fact, clear Iran of the charge that they are pursuing nuclear weapons. The press and the Left (yes, I'm mostly being redundant, but still ...) spun the NIE summary as proving that the lying Bush administration was lying about Iran's nuclear path just as it "lied" about Iraq's WMD path.
So now we have to ask, is President Obama lying about Iran? Or was the NIE summary a lie? Or did the press corps lie about what the NIE said?
I mean, just being wrong is now judged to be lying. Well, that's not quite true, either. Just being wrong is now judged to be lying if you are George W. Bush.
