The foreign relations minister in Honduras' interim government says he has sent a letter to Barack Obama apologizing for a racial comment he made about the U.S. president.
Enrique Ortez says the letter expresses "his most profound apologies" for "an unfortunate comment."
Not that this should be an excuse to condemn Honduras to taking Zelaya back as president, of course. Chavez and Ahmadinejad (and do we have to even mention Mr. "sea of fire" Kim Jong-il?) have insulted our president or issued bloody threats, too, yet they get the red carpet treatment from the administration.
But remember, just insulting our president doesn't get you respect from America--you have to threaten somebody with nuclear destruction or even just support terrorists who kill us. And never ever apologize, as if America isn't at fault for your rage.
But seriously, I'm glad Ortez apologized. He may be justifiably frustrated with our president's support of that proto-thug Zelaya, but the remark was rude and uncalled for. You just don't go insulting our president like that.
