Reality at Last!

Our so-called "reality-based community" has long argued that al Qaeda in Iraq is a myth and just an indigenous force reacting to our aggression. This is idiocy. Al Qaeda invaded Iraq. The foreigners led the movement even though they recruited locally. They also imported the bulk of the suicide bombers. Jihadis have had a long evolving history in Iraq, and they remain a problem.

Fortunately, while the Left was ignoring al Qaeda in Iraq, we defeated al Qaeda in Iraq. And because of this victory the situation in Iraq is finally catching up with the Left's talking points on Iraq:

Al Qaeda recruited heavily inside Iraq during the last five years, and most of those recruits have remained. Most of the foreigners have fled, either to their home countries, Western Europe or Afghanistan. Nearly all the al Qaeda leadership in Iraq is now Iraqi, and most of the best ones have been killed or captured this year. Much of this is due to tips from civilians, many of whom are now prosperous enough to have cell phones. Much useful information also comes from captured documents.

Remember, victory means we can responsibly end the war in Iraq. Anything less is just defeat and far from responsible.
