Doing the Jobs [Insert Nationality Here] Won't Do

Strategypage has an interesting post on how countries recruit foreigners for their armed forces.

Since we seem to have problems recruiting nations to fight with us for what should be a common fight to defend the West, couldn't we recruit Westerners who would fight for the West if their own country would step up?

Surely there are Westerners who would rather join our military to actually fight to defend what we hold dear rather than be a uniformed civil servant in their own country's military, who might be sent on some thankless peacekeeping mission rather than fight.
