Why Do They Hate Us? Part 96

It is conventional wisdom that President Bush wrecked our relations with the Islamic world by overthrowing Saddam Hussein's tyrannical and bloody reign of terror. Although to be fair, many of these same people were asking that question on 9/11, long before we overthrew the Saddam regime.

President Obama said he needed to repair that breach for the crime of liberating Iraq and other insults over the decades and centuries pre-Obama.

So how's that outreach to the Moslem world working for us? Apparently, our point man on repairing those relations, Rashad Hussain, was a bit shocked at a recent meeting:

Rizvi held America responsible for many woes in the Muslim world. "You supplied arms to Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war, then invaded Iraq in the name of searching for weapons of mass destruction. You created the Taliban with the help of Pakistan. You have been backing Israel ever since its creation. First, right the wrongs that you have created if you want to establish peace in the world,'' said Rizvi to applause from the students.

Huh. Although it is hard to call the man nuts about believing we were supplying arms to Iraq during the 1980s --lot of liberals here believe that. The fact that Russia and France supplied the vast bulk of the arms to Saddam counts for nothing. Noting that Brazil supplied more arms to Saddam counts for nothing. Indeed, nothing we sent to Iraq during the war actually had weapons on them. No matter.

But hey, at least we now know what we need to do to erase that hatred:

--Restore the dead Saddam to power.

--Restore the defuct Soviet Union's occupation of Afghanistan.

--Destroy Israel.

Although I'm reasonably sure that if we go one for three on this list, they'll like us--for a little while, anyway.
