About Those Resurgent Afghan Taliban

I know everyone in the media says the situation in Afghanistan is deteriorating. I just don't see it. Which is why I haven't been eager to put more troops into Afghanistan where we have supply lines far less secure than I'd like.

Strategypage doesn't see the Taliban has this mighty force about to conquer Afghanistan:

The Taliban have announced (via messages posted on the Internet) that they are going to launch a major offensive this year. In reality, the Taliban are playing defense, as they lost their ability to carry out large scale offensive operations over the last two years. Now, with three additional American brigades arriving, as well as additional troops for several NATO contingents, the Taliban are bracing for more attacks on their bases and drug operations.

With more of our troops being more active in Afghanistan in more places where we never operating persistently in, of course casualties go up. Combat intensity is not a measure of winning or losing. It just isn't.

We're going in for the kill. Let's see if the hand puppet crowd will tolerate that.
