Rather than enjoying a plethora of new friends as we extend our hand of friendship to foes, we find that we are in the midst of a pivot to threats in a 360 degree perimeter.
I would just like to point out that in our new era of hope and change where we don't need a robust military, we are confronting the Russians in Europe and Russia and Iran in the Middle East, fight ISIL across the Middle East and Africa, fight jihadis in Afghanistan, cope with a nuclear North Korea while pretending we won't have to do the same with Iran, and will challenge China over their claims of sovereignty in the South China Sea--within our pivot to Asia that once--so very recently--saw China as our only serious military challenge.
At this point, to add to our miseries, you almost have to assume a massive breakdown in order in Mexico or Venezuela--or perhaps an alien invasion.
