Russia has positioned about a half dozen tanks at an airfield at the center of a military buildup in Syria, two U.S. officials said on Monday, adding that the intentions of Moscow's latest deployment of heavy military equipment were unclear.
And Syria's ambassador to Russia denies:
Talk of a Russian troop presence on the ground in Syria is "a lie", Syrian Ambassador to Moscow Riad Haddad said on Monday, amid accusations from the United States that Moscow is beefing up its military presence there.
What is the point of denying the obvious?
I thought the Syrians were all about boasting of their foreign support.
