The exercises, which run until Saturday, will test the army's ability to "plan, prepare and carry out military actions," the ministry said in a statement.
The Russians don't mention "rattling" anybody.
So on top of previous exercises that were closer to eastern Ukraine, I'm going to be very worried for the next couple weeks that the stated aim for the exercises is correct.
UPDATE: If Russia is going to invade it will be in the next few weeks.
Russia has the troops geared up plus this period will before weather turns sour and before the fall draft class that churns Russia's military.
