Speaking before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Kerry said US military action -- ultimately abandoned by President Barack Obama at the 11th hour last year -- would not have had a "devastating impact" on the regime of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad.
Air strikes wouldn't have worked?
Then why, pray tell, did Secretary Kerry liken Assad to Hitler and demand strikes before pulling back and assuring the world that any strikes would be "unbelievably small"--thus assuring they would have no devastating impact?
[In] a joint press conference in London with Britain’s foreign secretary, ... [Secretary of State] Kerry said the strike would be able to harm Assad without putting American troops on the ground and with a “very limited, very targeted, short-term effort.”
“That is exactly what we are talking about doing, unbelievably small, limited kind of effort,” Kerry said.
What, exactly, is Kerry talking about?
I don't know about air strikes. But Kerry's hand at the till of our ship of state is having a devastating impact on our diplomatic clout.
