Chinese Military Power

The annual report on Chinese military power is out.

Just glancing at it, it seems that it is more cautious regarding Taiwan. I no longer see the statement that China might be able to invade if they are willing to endure the casualties that the primative nature of such an assault would require to win.

Instead, the report simply states that China has been gaining ground on Taiwan in the ability to invade.

The report also notes the various theories about how China would strike Taiwan if they were to do so.

Also, no carriers appear to be on order. Several years ago there were reports of PLAN carriers coming online this year. Those reports were clearly way off.

And this year the report is on time.
