America Has Certainly Come Far in Our Iraq Policy

Remember during the Iraq War when that simplistic Bush 43 said we were fighting jihadis "over there" in Iraq so we didn't have to fight them "over here" in our cities? Why, the president's rabid critics asked, couldn't President Bush have a more nuanced view like the sophisticated French who refused to participate in that fight?

Well:

Western support for military action against the Islamic State group is key to preventing attacks at home, French President Francois Hollande said Monday in Iraq, where yet another bombing killed dozens. ...

"Taking action against terrorism here in Iraq is also preventing acts of terrorism on our own soil," Hollande said at a base where French soldiers have been training elite Iraqi forces.

I guess our policy is now as sophisticated as France's policy. So we've got that going for us.

UPDATE: I guess under Secretary of State Kerry's nuanced hands, America finally passed that "global test" that candidate Kerry insisted we take prior to military involvement.
